Located aproximately 10 miles North of Market Rasen, midway between the villages of Caistor and North Kelsey, RAF Caistor originally opened in 1941 as a fighter station.

The site contained grass runways and was essentially used as a relief landing ground for nearby Kirton in Lindsey and as a training station by RAF Cranwell.

The site closed to flying in 1945 and was held as an inactive site by the MOD until 1959 when it was turned into a Thor missile base. The site finally closed in 1963 and was sold off shortly afterwards.

Today the site has mostly returned to agriculture, all that remains are the concrete peri-track, a blister hanger and handful of the former squadron offices.
