The remains of this former Bomber airfield are situated immediately South of Ludford Magna village, aproximately 5 miles East of Market Rasen, between the A613 and A157 roads.

The airfield opened in 1943, but was redeveloped as a Thor missile base in the late 50's. The site finally closed in 1963 when Thor missiles were taken out of service by the US.

Like so many former RAF stations, the old airfield is now used for farming. The old perimiter track is still there, but the main runway has long since been removed, although the subsiduary East-West runway remains, as do the 3 old missile silo's which were built along this stretch.

A few buildings still remain on the old technical site, including the old ops block and guardroom, but these are on private property and not readily accessable. The old control tower however, has long been demolished.

Many buildings of the former accomodation site, situated North of the A163 road, still exist and have been turned into commercial units.

The station was reffered to by the wartime crews as "Mudford Magna" and "Ludford Magma" owing to the state of the airfield everytime it rained (which it did frequently).

A memorial to the station can be found in the centre of Ludford Magna village, opposite the Black Horse pub.
